Anton Bowden

Professor

Anton E. Bowden is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University with research interests are in spinal biomechanics, medical device design, and nanocomposite meta-biomaterials. He received his PhD in Bioengineering from University of Utah and his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Utah State University. Anton is a licensed professional engineer and a recipient of a National Science Foundation CAREER Award. He was awarded the BYU Weidman Professorship in Leadership and currently serves as a Fellow for the BYU Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership. He is an inventor with a portfolio of awarded patents in the medical device space. Anton volunteers with NCEES and currently serves as vice-chair of the Mechanical Engineering Professional Licensure Exams Committee. He has served in various leadership positions with the Orthopedic Research Society including his current service as an ORS Regional Ambassador and member of the ORS Ethics Committee. He is passionate about innovation and in helping students act with integrity and identify ways to improve their leadership skills and implement them in all aspects of their lives.
