Gilbert Fellingham

Professor of Statistics Editor-in-Chief JQAS

Gilbert Fellingham is a Professor of Statistics at Brigham Young University, where he has worked since 1990. Prior to coming to BYU, Dr. Fellingham spent a number of years as a math teacher and coach (water polo, swimming, track and field, and volleyball) in two different secondary schools. His Bachelor’s degree is in Mathematics, and he has Master’s degrees in both Physical Education and Statistics. His Ph.D. is in Biostatistics from the University of Washington. Author or co-author of over 110 refereed publications, his current research interests include applications of Bayesian and nonparametric Bayesian models in health and human performance. He was given the 2006 Statistics in Sports Award from the Section on Statistics in Sports of the American Statistical Association. He has consulted with a number of teams, including United States Men’s and Women’s National Volleyball teams. Dr. Fellingham currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Quantitative Analysis in Sports, a journal sponsored by the American Statistical Association.
