Dr. Royce Kimmons is an associate professor of Instructional Psychology & Technology at Brigham Young University. As a researcher, he has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles in prominent journals (as well as various book chapters and other secondary publications) and has received numerous awards for his work including the BYU Early Career Scholarship Award (2022), the ETR&D Young Scholar Award (2017), the AERA TACTL Early Career Scholar Award (2017), the AECT Annual Achievement Award (2016, 2022), and numerous best paper and outstanding research project awards. Royce’s scholarly work focuses on open education, social media in education and society, and classroom technology use (e.g., PICRAT), and the driving problem he tries to address in his work is overcoming socioeconomic barriers in learning opportunities. He is the founder of EdTechBooks.org, books.byui.edu, and open.byu.edu, which are open textbook publishing platforms that provide free learning materials to millions of learners each year.
