Dr. Tyler Ames is the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment at Brigham Young University, where he leverages his expertise in quantitative data, causal inference, and career and technical education to support data-driven decision-making. He earned his PhD in Education from Johns Hopkins University, a Master's in Technology and Engineering Education from Utah State University, and a Bachelor's in the same field from Brigham Young University.

Dr. Ames’s research has focused on understanding the trends in K-12 career and technical education. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, presented to national audiences, and was recognized by the American Educational Research Association with a national dissertation award.

Previously, Dr. Ames held the position of Director of Institutional Research at BYU-Pathway Worldwide, where he gained valuable experience in business intelligence, including data warehousing. He is currently working on an exciting initiative to build the university’s student domain analytic store, a project designed to enhance the university’s ability to analyze and utilize student data at an enterprise level.

Outside of work, Dr. Ames enjoys woodworking, reading, and spending time with his family.
